Tips & ideas
As in all Montessori mathematical experiences, the skittles have been represented using the same colour code: green for units, blue for 10s and red for 100s. The skittles can be used on their own or to complement other mathematical experiences to introduce children to large numbers and their mathematical properties.
For children not ready to experience the more complex mathematical concepts, the skittles can be explored as counting, patterning and sequencing experiences. Children will also be developing their pincer grip and hand-eye coordination as they manoeuvre the skittles.
