This beautiful cushion design is named 'Dabilbahnba ' - place of saltwater. Its inspiration passed on to the artist by ancestors carrying knowledge, teachings and the spirituality of the Ngugi clan of Quandamooka Country in Brisbane.
The design represents backbeach of Minjerribah at low tide the sand and the sea being the source of food and the importance of water to provide sustainance, the memories of the artist Dad hunting mudcrabs and women digging in lowtide sand for eugaries (pippi shells) You can bring the patterns and the colours into life with the imagination of our children.
