Like all Montessori mathematical experiences, the number tiles, counters and skittles are all colour coded where green = units and thousands, blue = tens and red = hundreds.

Tips & ideas

This experience supports children in learning the written symbol of numbers as they had previously been using the representation of numbers through the skittles and Golden Beads activities.

Here children are able to practice the arithmetic equations of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.  Children are also able to further investigate the decimal system as they explore large numbers.
