Tips & ideas

The wooden prisms have been designed to be used to compare and calculate the volume of the brown stair.  Lining and stacking the prisms allow children to calculate each step and compare them to the next.  These explorations lead to discussions of size differentiation, number, addition, multiplication and many more mathematical concepts.

These wooden prisms can also be used in other areas of the curriculum as a measuring tool.
