Apple Counting Tree Exercise

• A beechwood tree puzzle with holes for the apples
• A beechwood lidded box containing apple pieces
• 2 numbered dice
• Suitable for 3+ years 

Tips & ideas

With a roll of the dice, children will practice simple arithmetic as they add numbers to find the sum.  Once found, the sum will be represented by the number of apples placed on the tree.  Through their explorations, children will be practicing simple calculations, number recognition, counting and pattern sequencing as they place their apples.

While children are exploring these mathematical concepts, they are also developing their finger grips and dexterity. Skills they will be able to transfer to practice and develop their handwriting abilities.
