About the Artist
Mitch Francis is a proud Gunditjmara and Bundjalung man. It is his passion to create and tell stories through his art which is created under the namesake ‘Bunjil Art’. These designs have stories linked with education and are a perfect fit for a classroom setting.

The Story Behind the Design
‘“Blue Water Dreaming” is a representation of the connections that Aboriginal people have with water and the ocean specifically. For myself, I feel a very strong spiritual connection to the ocean in my life so creating artworks symbolising this always brings me comfort.
The background of this artwork represents the ocean itself, with the darker blues representing deeper water and the light blues representing coastal shallow waters which provided for Aboriginal people for thousands of years and continue to do so today. The central circle surrounded by people is a symbolism of the sharing of stories about the ocean and water sources important to Aboriginal culture. In the artwork, people can be seen out hunting along rivers and in ocean waters, benefiting from what these waterways have to offer while never overfishing or exploiting the resources they have to offer.’

Special Instructions
To clean the rug, spot wash with warm soapy water using a damp cloth or soft brush and air dry. The rugs can also be professionally steamed cleaned. Vacuum regularly.
