Tips & ideas

As children sort through the fabric squares, they are invited to match the textures of the different materials. Children are encouraged to explore the fabric using both their visual and tactile senses. Through continued investigations and the sharing of ideas children are able to develop the language to describe texture and sensation.

As children become confident with this experience, educators can introduce a blindfold to add an extra challenge. Encouraging children to explore and investigate using a single sense.
