As children weave their thread through the holes of each shape, they are challenging their fine motor muscles, finger grips and hand-eye coordination. These skills are each essential to children’s explorations of independence.

While lacing their shaped boards, children are also invited to practice their language skills as they identify shapes and colours. When working in small groups, children will also engage in social development as they share ideas and support each others learning.
